Mark Twain loathed it.

However, I would still recommend taking some time to visit Louisiana's Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge (100 North Blvd.). The castle-like former state capitol was built in the 1800s and housed Louisiana government until the current capitol was built in the early 20th century. The National Historic Landmark currently houses the Old State Capitol Museum of Political History.

Admission is free, and it's open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
